I don't think it will be a phone. My assumption is 3G connectivity with deals like that of the iPhone; two models - one 3G, one Wi-Fi. I think they will be restricting sales if they make it phone, which would skyrocket the price and force consumers into phone deals. The PlayStation brand is maybe something they don't want that sort of restriction on. I don't think they would want to turn the brand into a phone.

Sony make money by making phones and game consoles amongst other things, why would they combine the 2? It seems legit though and I wonder how much this thing will cost? It has a quad core processor, 1GB Ram I believe (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) :P :P Considering the PSPGO was based on digital distribution and was over $400 now, but has had a price drop since it's release and the fact that it only sold 1000 units in the first day/week, and this will also be ditching the UMD for digital distribution, It was cheaper to import the PSPGO, including the shipping you could get one for $100 less. Hopefully This wont cost too much otherwise the 3DS will be dominant. :P :P Also we cannot forget it has 3G which will add more onto the cost too.

I really don't know, I just don't associate the brand with a phone. Unless it's a Sony Ericsson PlayStation phone? But I doubt it. I think they will revealed a PSP2 and maybe another lineup of phones. I may very well be wrong though.

The main purpose of the PSP2 would be gaming. The PSP was great, but I ended up selling mine simply due to the lack of decent games. Dual analog sticks should bring about some decent FPS. This is of course assuming that the PSP2 is in fact real, and Sony aren't just screwing with us.

Just curious, Tano, are you posting from the new MMGN Office?

I think it could be a great console if they get it right but we will be lucky to even find out a release date before Nintendo releases the 3DS which we will find out the release date and price for on Febuary 8.

Lol.

That's how many virtual cores. :) I'm guessing the PS3 has a 8 core (CPU merged with Graphics) that's hyperthreaded. Which is 16 virtual cores.
The new PSP being half. I'm guessing is a quad (4) core hyperthreadded to 8 virtual cores.
Makes sense when they say half the power and it being a quad. (:
