It was revealed yesterday, in a Twitter post by Naughty Dog co-founder Jason Rubin[/url], that Chris Rock was initially approached to do the voice work of
Daxter in Naughty Dog's 2001
Jak and Daxter.
"Chris Rock just admitted how easy voice acting is. Why did he turn down @Naughty_Dog for the role of Daxter in the year 2000 for $250k? #Oscars." 2001 was a good time for Rock. His career was going quite well, and Naughty Dog's offer of voice work, at a game no one had yet heard about, probably wasn't very enticing for the comedian. The role ultimately went to Max Casella (of Sopranos fame).
Rubin went on to say
"Max Casella made Daxter. We were lucky the [sic] Chris Rock turned us down. Daxter would not have been the same character!" Rubin also shared that George Carlin was originally in consideration for the role of Samos the Sage.
What are your thoughts on this revelation? Do you think Chris Rock would have been a good Daxter?
Don't forget to relive the brilliance of Jak and Daxter when the HD Collection is released exclusively on PlayStation 3 March 8th this year.
